Food Menus at Mar Achlais Guesthouse

Breakfast Menu

To avoid wastage ,and thereby keep down our charges, you will be asked to make your breakfast choice the evening before. Served at: 08.00 -- 08.15 -- 08.30

To start

Choice of fruit juices
Cereals or Porridge

*Scottish Breakfast
(You may choose all or any part for your main breakfast)

Scottish Lorne Sausage
Scottish Black Pudding ( or Haggis )
Bacon
Mushrooms
Tomatoes
Eggs (any style)

*Kipper Breakfast (Fish)
(Usually Available)

These are supplied by a friend who lives locally and owns a smokehouse and are served with grilled tomatoes, sautee¹d mushrooms and a thick piece of home baked bread. They are FULL herrings, oak smoked. Very bony but extremely tasty.

With both Scottish style breakfasts:

Toast: (Brown or white bread)
Home made jams and jellies
Oatcakes and Honey
Coffee and various teas

Vegetarian and continental style options are available on request.

A multi-lingual Menu is available in our Lounge (41 Languages to date).


Dinner Menu

Dinner is available from GBP 14.50 (circa. 20 euros when ordered before 4 p.m.). This consists of the following:

Starter ­ Soup of the day.

Dessert, usually home made.

Coffee and various teas.

Plus your choice from the main courses below.

Main courses:

Scotland's National Dish:
Haggis, Neeps (Turnip) & Tatties (Mashed potatoes) , with
a whisky based sauce if you wish.

Traditional Fare:
Home Made Steak Pie £16.00
Roast Topside Beef & Yorkshire Pudding. (Not with fries!!!) £18.00
Roast Chicken on the bone. £16.00
Prime Sirloin Steak with sautéed onions, mushrooms & a Salad Garnish. £18.00

Fish Dishes:
Scottish Haddock, coated with Golden Ground Maize £18.00
Scottish Whiting, coated with Golden Ground Maize £18.00
Scottish Salmon Steak(Bone in) with a chive/olive oil drizzle £18.00
Whole Rainbow Trout with a chive, butter & lemon sauce £18.00
Fish dishes are served with a mixed salad garnish.

Vegetarian dishes can be produced if we are advised well in advance.

All main courses are served with two vegetables and potatoes or chips (Fries) unless otherwise stated.
